Only two cryptocurrencies have ever reached a market cap of $500 billion: Bitcoin (BTC -0.05%) and Ethereum (ETH 1.64%). Most are nowhere near that milestone, but considering how much the crypto market has grown, other coins could get there sooner than you'd think.

In five years' time, I expect Solana (SOL 2.06%) to have surpassed $500 billion. It's the fifth-largest cryptocurrency at the time of this writing (July 21) and has a market cap of about $109 billion. It will need to gain nearly 360%, but with the technology behind it and a growing user base, Solana is ready for a serious bull run.
