A guy named Michael Zidell got scammed out of $20 million in one of those crypto “romance scams” (aka pig-butchering). What’s wild is—he’s now suing two more banks, East West Bank and Cathay Bank, claiming they helped enable the scam by processing a bunch of shady wire transfers.
He says he was manipulated into sending 43 transfers totaling over $20M after meeting someone on Facebook who pretended to be a business owner.
He’s already filed a similar lawsuit against Citibank earlier this year for $4M.
